View the Fall CAEPCon Program
Twice a year, the educator preparation profession gathers at the CAEP Conference (CAEPCon). CAEPCon provides opportunities to interact directly with the CAEP team and learn about the CAEP Standards and the Accreditation Process.
Sessions focus on important topics such as quality assessments, data literacy, diverse clinical practices, demonstrating program impact, developing a quality assurance system, and more.
CAEPCon gives educator preparation providers (EPPs) the chance to share innovative ideas, continuous improvement experiences, transformational practice, and evidence-supported successes with other EPPs. Educator Preparation Providers will have an opportunity to network and share best practices, while gaining new ideas.
CAEPCon sessions are designed to assist EPPs with navigating all phases of the CAEP accreditation process. At our Fall CAEPCon, in addition to addressing each of the CAEP standards, key sessions will be presented which highlight our newest developments. These session highlights include:
CAEP Accreditation Process
CAEP has revised the previous accreditation processes and associated pathways. The updated CAEP accreditation process will streamline the processes and strengthen accreditation to ensure all actions taken are consistent and of high quality. Attend our CAEPCon CAEP Accreditation Process session to learn how this streamlined process supports the needs of current EPPs and eases the intake of initial applicants.
CAEP Program Review with Feedback
The purpose of the CAEP Program Review with Feedback option is to allow providers the opportunity to submit their program level evidence (assessments, data, and analysis for each licensure program) prior to, and in preparation for, self-study reporting for CAEP Standard 1. This session will delve deeper into the process, and outline the timeline for implementation of the new Program Review with Feedback option guidelines for EPPs preparing for Fall 2019 site visits.
CAEP 2018 K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards
The 2018 K-6 Elementary Teacher Preparation Standards will be available as a choice of standards for states and EPPs selecting the CAEP Program Review with Feedback option for their K-6 elementary teacher preparation programs. This session will share information on the process and timeline for the adoption of the standards to conduct program level review of K-6 elementary education programs as part of the CAEP accreditation process.
CAEP Handbook: Initial-Level Programs 2018
This handbook is designed as a resource to be used by educator preparation providers (EPPs) conducting self-studies and writing self-study reports for accreditation at the initial-licensure level. It is linked, explicitly, to CAEP Standards for Initial-Licensure Programs adopted by the CAEP Board of Directors in August 2013 and amended in June 2016. This CAEPCon session, is meant to inform you and your colleagues, as an EPP team conducting an accreditation self-study of your programs and preparing the self-study report at the initial-licensure level.
CAEP Handbook: Guidance on Self-Study Reports for Accreditation at the Advanced-Level 2017
This handbook is part of a comprehensive system of guidance and capacity-building support to assist educator preparation providers (EPPs) in making their case for meeting CAEP Standards for Advanced-Level Programs – including, for each standard, a section on underlying concepts and considerations to summarize the focus of each standard; reflective questions that prompt EPPs to investigate their own focus; and evidence sufficiency criteria tables. Join this session at CAEPCon to learn more about navigating this valuable resource.
Whether this is your first time or you are a CAEPCon veteran, there is always something new to learn! From beginning to end, you will enjoy learning and networking opportunities. Beyond main conference programming, you will not want to miss these CAEPCon features:
The CAEPCon App
The CAEPCon app is back (and improved) this Fall! Get the most out of your CAEPCon experience. Download the app and enjoy all the benefits it affords – including, building your own session schedule, accessing presentation slides and handouts (when applicable), chatting with speakers and other conference attendees, enjoying fun gaming opportunities for chances to win prizes, and much more!
PreCon Orientation SessionsThese optional (free) sessions aim to guide attendees toward conference content best suited for their journey through the accreditation process. Plan to arrive by the afternoon of September 12 to participate in the orientation sessions and settle in. These PreCon sessions will help attendees:
- Figure out which CAEPCon track to follow
- Determine what key points will be covered within the CAEP Standards sessions
- Learn about key CAEP resources, including: scope of accreditation, accreditation reports and requirements, assessment evaluation frameworks, evidence sufficiency criteria, etc.
- Build a deeper understanding of the accreditation process, including: report timelines, the AIMS platform, tools for writing, etc.
Three PreCon orientation sessions will be offered, based on your level of familiarity with the CAEP Accreditation Process.
- Novice Level PreCon | Wednesday, September 12; 2:00 p.m.
This PreCon session is perfect for anyone with little or no knowledge of the overall accreditation process. The session will give participants guidance on what to anticipate on the 'Novice Track.' Participants will get a basic understanding of the concepts behind each standard and associated components, and general guidelines on how to better meet standards.
- Intermediate/Experienced Level PreCon | Wednesday, September 12; 3:30 p.m.
This PreCon session is suited for anyone, with some prior CAEP knowledge, looking to deepen their understanding of the accreditation process. This orientation will outline what to anticipate on the 'Intermediate/Experienced Track,' such as focusing in on evidence sufficiency criteria, to demonstrate concepts of the standards and components.
- Program Review PreCon | Wednesday, September 12; 5:00 p.m.
This PreCon session is suited for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of the accreditation process. Participants will gain a basic understanding of the scope of CAEP Accreditation and program review, available program review options, purpose of conducting program-level review, and the state’s role in selecting program review options. This orientation will serve well to prepare participants for later conference sessions on individual program review options, namely SPA Program Review with National Recognition and CAEP Program Review with Feedback.
Want to know more about the accreditation process? The Resource Center will feature concise information about the various steps in the accreditation process in a poster-style format. The Resource Center will be open, with CAEP staff present, for the full duration of CAEPCon – come by any time!
