"Alabama is one of the original NCATE partner states and we continue to benefit from that partnership. The partnership stimulates us to continue to review and update our state program approval standards as NCATE continues to engage in that process"

This section is designed for institutions that are preparing to submit written documentation or to host a focused visit as a result of an accreditation with conditions decision decision after a continuing accreditation visit. Accreditation with conditions is an accreditation decision rendered after a continuing accreditation visit. It indicates
that the institution did not meet one or more of the NCATE standards. When the UAB renders this decision, the unit maintains its accredited status, but must satisfy conditions by meeting the previously unmet standard(s) within the required timeline. The documentation to be submitted or the focused visit will address only the unmet standards. See Accreditation Decisions for more information on accreditation with conditions.

This section is designed for institutions that are preparing to submit written documentation or to host a focused visit because of a provisional accreditation decision granted after a first visit. Provisional accreditation is an accreditation decision rendered after a first accreditation visit. It indicates that the institution did not meet one or more of the NCATE standards. When the UAB renders this decision, the unit maintains its accredited status, but must satisfy conditions by meeting the previously unmet standard(s) within the required timeline. The documentation to be submitted or the focused visit will address only the unmet standards.
See Accreditation Decisions for more information on provisional accreditation.

Next Visit

If accreditation is continued, the next on-site visit is scheduled five or seven years after the semester of the full visit, depending on the agreement with the state in which the institution is located. For example, the full visit occurred in fall 2004 with a focused visit in fall 2006; the next full visit will be scheduled in fall 2009 or fall 2011, depending on the state agreement.
